1850 list & RTT preview

I'm back for more.  I had a RTT this last Saturday 8-11-12 at one of the local stores we have here in Minnesota.  We had a full house with 20 people.  We had a few special bonus battle points up for grabs because of the challenge issued between 2 gaming clubs which I will go into in another post.  I will do a full tournament recap and battle reports for each of my 3 games.  This post will be a summary of my games, my list, and how I planned on using it (not in any order).

My list: This list is 1825 points

Overlord MSS, Warscythe, semp weave - Immortals

Royal Court 1

Cryptek Abbyssal Staff, Veil of Darkness - Warriors 1
Cryptek Voltic Staff, Lightning Fields - Immortals

Overlord MSS, Warscythe, semp weave - Immortals

Royal Court 2

Cryptek Voltic Staff - Warriors 2
Cryptek Abbyssal Staff, Veil of Darkness - Warriors 3 nightscythe
Cryptek Voltic Staff, Lightning Fields - Immortals

Troops

5 Warriors

5 Warriors

5 Warriors, Nightscythe

10 Immortals Gauss, Nightscythe

Heavy

Annihilation Barge

Annihilation Barge

Fast

5 Wraiths, 3 Whip Coils

5 Wraiths, 2 Whip Coils

5 Wraiths, 3 Whip Coils

How I plan on using this list is pretty straight forward for Necrons.  I don't use the shenanigans like Imotekh, Orikan, and the C'Tan combos.  With the exception of the scouring mission with fast attack choices being scoring I run my wraiths at the troop choices my opponent has to hopefully eliminate them in the first 2-3 rounds.  I run both overlords in the immortal squad with both harbingers of the storm embarked in a nightscythe.  This gives me the flexibility of dropping them off when and where I need to at least until more models with skyfire come out.  Also the 2d6 strength 8 ap 5 hits on assaulting units plus overwatch is good for thinning some models off of the assaulting unit.  Two overlords with mind shackle scarabs will at least push in most challenges and dominate if I roll well.  Also when I drop out of the nightscythe the 10 immortals plus the 2 haywire crypteks can shoot down any vehicle they need to or make my opponent roll lots of saves.  The 3 warriors squads are my objective holders.  Two of them can use veil of darkness to move around the board for bait and switch or just last turn objective takers.  The annihilation barges move with the wraiths and try and pop vehicles for the wraiths to assault whats inside or I move them the full 12" and use the tesla to fire at incoming fliers.  With 4 twin linked shots I am bound to get at least one 6 which turns into 3 hits.  The haywire staff my crypteks have is the same idea, 4 shots and one will be a 6 which has a very good chance to at least glance.  My 2k list just adds a doomscythe.

8-11-12 1850 RTT summary

We had 20 people (19 & a ringer) at this RTT and it was a full house.  There were 5 from another gaming club and we nominated 5 from ours to be champions.  Anybody who beat a champion added 1 battle point to their score for that game.  Winner took home the traveling trophy.  I was a champion and ended up with a 2-1 record and took 7th place.  Game 1 was against a member of the rival club and he was running Ravenguard allied with Tau.  I won this game and took 19/20 points plus a bonus point for beating a champion.  Game 2 was against the Deamon ringer army played by one of our clubs leaders.  He gave me the choice of playing his Deamons or his Grey Knights.  I probably should have played his Grey Knights because I lost.  I earned 6/20 battle points.  Flying monstrous creatures that are scoring are a pain to deal with.  Game 3 was against a friend of mine who was playing Grey Knights.  I won this blood bath of a game and took 16/20 +1 battle point.  All in all it was a good showing for my Necrons and the best placement I have had in a non-team tournament.  I will be writing up battle reports for these 3 games hopefully this week.
